About Us

Founded in Alexandra in January 2002, Publik Kreativity Drama Krew (P.K.D.K.) is a registered Non-Profit Organization (NPO) dedicated to uplifting young people through the performing arts. Our journey began with a simple but powerful vision: to get kids off the streets and channel their energy into creative expression. Today, we are a development agency for the arts, training and nurturing young talent across the country in Dance, Drama, Poetry, Music, Gumboots, Drumming, and other theatrical disciplines. We also create powerful, tailor-made industrial theatre productions that address critical social issues affecting our communities.

Our Mission & Objectives

P.K.D.K. is committed to using the arts as a vehicle for personal and community development. Our core objectives are to:

  • Develop Young Artists: Provide training and development opportunities for young people to become skilled, upcoming artists.
  • Promote Education & Life Skills: Foster education, healthy community spirit, responsibility, and maturity to prepare youth for adulthood.
  • Establish Creative Hubs: Create and maintain facilities for recreational, social, welfare, arts, and cultural activities, with a focus on youth leadership.
  • Amplify Youth Voices: Represent, promote, and sponsor the needs and opinions of young people within the community.
  • Create Opportunities: Empower youth and create employment pathways through the performing arts.
  • Sustain Artistic Growth: Assist past and present members in establishing themselves, and raise funds to support the organization’s objectives.

Our Impact & Community Engagement

For over two decades, P.K.D.K. has been a cornerstone of arts and culture development. Through our theatre classes, community performances, and participation in numerous festivals and events, we have provided platforms for young people to grow, learn, and shine. Our work extends beyond entertainment, using the arts as a tool for education and social change.

Flagship Project: Giyani Come Alive Theatre Development Project

In 2018, we launched the “Giyani Come Alive Theatre Development Project” in Limpopo. This initiative is designed to educate and uplift the standard of arts and culture in rural areas. The project combines intensive training with vibrant, quarterly festivals, creating a sustainable platform for artistic expression and community engagement in regions with limited access to the arts.
